Mandate
The objective of the project was to conduct project scoping and analysis for preparation of pre-feasibility studies of renewable energy based electricity supply using isolated mini and micro-grids
The pre-feasibility scoping studies were allocated as 15 studies for a group of localities in the Northern Region of Uganda, with estimation of electricity demand in the communities, technical design of generation facilities and the mini-grids (including optimization among various options for generation and combinations of communities), estimation of capital and operating costs of the systems, evaluation of the technical and financial feasibility of the systems, as well as a preliminary identification of social and environmental issues to be examined at feasibility stage and institutional issues
